Beacons have been lit in the farthest flung reaches of the Commonwealth - the first of thousands to mark the Diamond Jubilee of Britain's Queen.
Tonga and Australia blazed the trail for 4,000 more beacons to light up the UK.
Even the bow of the warship HMS Daring was lit up just east of Suez.
