Classic Game Room presents a CGR Undertow review of Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance from Konami for the PlayStation 2. Substance is the 2003 rerelease of Metal Gear Solid 2. In terms of the core game, Substance is virtually identical to the original version, Sons of Liberty. Konami supplemented the core Metal Gear Solid 2 experience with plenty of extra content, giving Substance four kinds of VR missions — similar to those in the original Metal Gear Solid — as well as alternate missions which revisit levels from the main game.
