The thief in pve, from what I have seen, can do some amazing things though. (gw2 gold site:www.gw2gold.net)With the shortbow you can set down fields that you can then fire your own shots with either the shortbow or the pistols through for extra damage [really, when isn't this nice], and you can sort of teleport around in battle if things get too hairy. On top of that, the thief can jump in and out of battle with stealth really easily, and always be able to keep themselves alive from what it seems like, you just will have to learn to manage long ranged and close ranged a little bit better than some other classes will that can focus on one or the other.
