Demonstrations go into the night in Cairo

STORY: Egyptian police fired tear gas on demonstrators, as protests over a film they saw as blasphemous to the Prophet Mohammad went into the evening.
Hundreds of protesters gathered in streets near the mission, pelting police with stones and petrol bombs as they were pushed back from the embassy perimeter.
On Thursday, Egypt's Islamist president Mohamed Mursi said he backed peaceful protest but not attacks on embassies after protesters climbed into the U.S. embassy in Cairo and tore down the American flag earlier in the week.
Hundreds of demonstrators had gathered in the area, but a smaller group of those joined battles with police.
The state news agency said 27 people were injured on Friday.
Many Muslims believe depicting the Prophet is blasphemous. In the past, cases where the Prophet was insulted have stirred condemnation and protests across the Islamic world.
