As the road climbs higher towards Cataloochee, you can almost feel the weight of the world tumbling backward right off your shoulders. City? What city? It's there behind you somewhere, far below the clouds that spread themselves like a gentle blue mist across the valley, its hustle and bustle drowned out by the sound of a mountain stream cascading across smooth rocks. Overhead, the sun filters its way through wide, sheltering branches of oak and maple. And, all around you, the time-gentled peaks of the Great Smoky Mountains roll away toward the edges of eternity.
Worries? What worries? They’re back there somewhere, too. But at the moment they seem very, very far away.
