Call of Duty Elite Goes Free, PlayStation All-Stars Goes Public, and Sleeping Dogs Celebrates Halloween - Nick's Gaming View Episode #82

Coming up today on Nick’s Gaming View, Call of Duty Elite goes free, PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale Beta to go public, and Sleeping Dogs to celebrate Halloween with story-based DLC, THIS IS NICK’S GAMING VIEW!
Hello everyone and welcome to Nick’s Gaming View, you are here with your host, Nick McCandless. Call of Duty Elite, the once paid subscription-based Call of Duty online service providing detailed statistics and social networking options, will officially go free in time for Call of Duty: Black Ops II. Excluding downloadable content, as expected, Call of Duty Elite will continue to offer the same incentives as before while costing the user absolutely nothing. Activision will also be introducing new features such as multiplayer broadcasting and stat tracking for the game’s Zombie mode enriching the service further. In response to the change, Activision’s CEO of Publishing, Eric Hirshberg, stated “A year ago our plan was to offer a subscription service” but he continued by saying “Right now, we’re confident that this is the best thing for our business and for our players.” Could this financial decision bring back the audience that has abandoned the Call of Duty series? We shall see when Call of Duty: Black Ops II launches later this year on November 13 th .
Another title releasing later this year with the potential of selling millions, PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, will officially become available to the public in beta form, as long as one is subscribed to PlayStation Plus. Taking place October 16 th through the 23 rd , both PS3 and Vita owners subscribed to PlayStation Plus will be able to dive into PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale and experience the combat madness before its official November 20 th release in North America. Those taking part of the beta will have the ability to enter combat using PlayStation legends: Kratos, Sweet Tooth, Colonel Radec, Sly Cooper, PaRappa the Rappa, and Fat Princess. With both Metropolis and Hades both available for gameplay environments, those who have yet to experience PlayStation’s spinoff of Super Smash Bros are in for a real treat.
Closing out today’s news, Sleeping Dogs is set to receive a Halloween treat delivering story-based DLC. Titled “Nightmare in North Point”, the upcoming DLC for Sleeping Dogs will offer an extension of the story requiring players to deal with hordes of zombies using magic kung fu. Featuring special abilities and weapons, players must come prepared to tackle a plethora of zombies and survive the invasion. Slated to release on October 30 th , “Nightmare in North Point” could prove to be a healthy extension of the title that shocked many gamers earlier this year.
