Coming up today on Nick’s Gaming View, Assassin’s Creed III follows the criticized Electronic Arts DLC model, Microsoft breaks into cloud-powered innovation, and Sleeping Dogs delivers free DLC pack, THIS IS NICK’S GAMING VIEW!

Hello everyone and welcome to Nick’s Gaming View, you are here with your host, Nick McCandless. The Ubisoft release that millions of gamers have been forced to wait on until now, Assassin’s Creed 3, is finally available on store shelves and is off to an incredible start. Despite the solid start and positive feedback up to this point, Ubisoft has upset many gamers as they have followed the criticized DLC model that Electronic Arts is known for. Releasing the same day, Ubisoft is selling two DLC packs titled “Gameplay Pack” and “Appearance Pack” both costing $14.99 a piece and offering immediate access to all gameplay elements and appearance features regardless of progress within the game. Come on Ubisoft, we expect such nonsense from EA, but now you guys? What ever happened to actually playing a game for entertainment rather than paying to fast forward?

With hype and anticipation of the next Xbox and PlayStation hitting a peak with Nintendo’s Wii U less than a month from release, Microsoft has recently published a new job listing for their Kids and Lifestyles Entertainment division revealing their desire to expand on innovations utilizing cloud-powered technologies. Promoting experiences that blur the line between linear content and interactive Kinect experiences, Microsoft is looking for those who are interested in creating new technology as well as “delivering a platform and tool set that can be used to deliver multiple entertainment products from high profile IP partners in a flexible, rapid, and low cost way.” What exactly does Microsoft have in mind to expand their successful Kinect platform? No specified details have been released up to this point, but stay tuned as the moment I am given the inside scoop, you can expect me to deliver the news.

Wrapping up today’s episode of Nick’s Gaming View, Square Enix has announced a new, free DLC pack to launch alongside their “Nightmare in North Point” DLC. Titled, “Ghost Pig Pack”, the free DLC pack is set to deliver a collection of hats and community-requested features enriching the overall Sleeping Dogs experience. The Ghost Pig Pack will also unlock the gold .40cal pistol upon completion of the title’s main story and for those who pre-ordered the game and received the Police Protection Pack, the add-on pack will also unlock the supercharged SWAT Cruiser vehicle and SWAT outfit.
