STORY: Actor Alec Baldwin graced the red carpet ahead of AFI Fest's gala screening of animated fantasy-adventure 3D film - "Rise of the Guardians" - on Sunday (November 4).

The film features the voices of Baldwin, Hugh Jackman and Jude Law among others, and is about a group of unlikely heroes like Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy and the Easter Bunny with extraordinary powers joining together to protect the world's children. The animated feature is based on William Joyce's "The Guardians of Childhood" book series, which tracks the adventures of a carefree boy.

Baldwin lives with his wife Hilaria Thomas in Manhattan's East Village area, which was without power in the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy.

"It was eerie, like you're in your home but it's cold and it's dark, there's no lights, there's no water. Everything's back now, but when you think about it, what was nice was that everybody in the building pitched in. It was like a community. Everybody helped everybody out," said the 54-year-old native New Yorker.

"Rise of the Guardians" hits U.S. theatres on November 21.
