The Israeli army said its Iron Dome interceptor system, which singles out rockets heading for populated areas, shot down 18 rockets in the first hours of day two of Operation Pillar of Defence on Thursday (November 15).

One of these interceptions was caught on a Reuters camera based in the Israeli town of Sderot and overlooking Beit Hanoun in Gaza.

A rocket that got through killed three Israelis north of the Strip on Thursday, drawing the first blood from Israel as the Palestinian death toll rose to 13 and a military showdown lurched closer to all-out war with an invasion of the enclave.
