Epic Games States PlayStation 4/Xbox 720 Development Costs Will Double - Nick's Gaming View Episode #103

Epic Games expects costs to double for next-generation video game development, PlayStation Plus becomes even better offer with incredible Vita support, and Sleeping Dogs to feature Deus Ex, Just Cause 2, and Hitman, THIS IS NICK’S GAMING VIEW!

Hello everyone and welcome to Nick’s Gaming View, you are here with your host, Nick McCandless. Tim Sweeney, Chief Technology Officer at Epic Games, recently turned heads by stating his expectation that next-generation video game development costs will double the costs involved at the start of the current console generation. While these costs are sure to die down with maturity of the tools and engines are developed, concerns in regards to the price of games for the next PlayStation and Xbox have been strengthened.

Competing against the high prices involved within the video game industry, Sony has announced the official details on Vita’s implementation of PlayStation Plus. Remaining at the $49.99 annual subscription, beginning November 20th, subscribers of PlayStation Plus who own a PlayStation Vita will receive the same features provided to the PlayStation 3 including online cloud storage, automatic updates, and trophy synching and access to the highly valuable Instant Games Collection. Containing Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Jet Set Radio HD, WipEout 2048, Gravity Rush, Tales From Space: Mutant Blobs Attack!, and the PSP hit, Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions, the price of this initial content offering more than doubles the annual subscription cost. It’s crazy how just when you thought PlayStation Plus had reached its peak, it finds yet another way to enrich the value of the service.

Wrapping up Nick’s Gaming View, Square Enix has announced their Square Enix Character Pack for Sleeping Dogs allowing the protagonist, Wei Shen, to become a silent assassin. Featuring Square Enix’s renowned characters, the DLC pack will provide characters, suits, and armors from Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Hitman Absolution, and Just Cause 2. With 2012’s blockbusters on store shelves, Sleeping Dogs has seemed to dissolve into the market, but for those who are fans of Sleeping Dogs, the pack can be picked up on Xbox Live, PlayStation Network, and Steam for the low price of $1.99.
