Giant Pyramid Planned Using Oil Barrels

A giant pyramid is planned using oil barrels.
An art installation from the world famous husband and wife artists Christo and Jeanne-Claude may actually get to see the light of day, after being put on hold for over thirty years.
Originally conceived in 1977, the plans are for a 500 foot tall trapezoid shaped pyramid built from about 410 thousand oil barrels.
A site has been approved for the building of the pyramid installation, which has been named The Mastaba.
One of the artists, Jeanne-Claude passed away in 2009, but Christo has told the Guardian that there are now plans to move forward with the project.
The Mastaba would take about 30 months to build with a team involving hundreds of people and the cost is estimated at around 340 million dollars.
Some of the artists other work include temporary installations like The Gates in New York City’s Central Park, which consisted of 75 hundred orange colored gates that covered 23 miles of walkways in the park.
Another one of Christo’s art pieces turned tragic when an enormous 500 pound umbrella that was part of an installation in California landed on a woman and killed her.
