A bar in East London has been raided for serving drinks flavored with whale skin.

A beverage was listed on the menu named ‘Moby Dick’.

It contained whisky, ale and bitters with an additional, special 'whale skin infusion'.

Europe has a strict ban on the sale of whale meat. Police were tipped off that the drinking establishment was offering the cocktail.
According to spokesperson “One item from the premises was seized. This has been sent for analysis."

Bar employees claim that there was a drink on the menu containing whale skin, however it has since been removed.

The whale portions had been bought by an employee while on a trip to Japan.
They claimed that they were not aware of the law until police raided the business and they have offered apologies to anyone who was offended.

In 2010, an upscale sushi restaurant in Santa Monica was charged with the illegal sale of a marine mammal product.

Typhoon Restaurant was accused of serving whale meat to customers, which is illegal in the United States.
