Prince William And David Beckham Celebrate English FA's 150th

Prince William and David Beckham were among those celebrating as the English Football Association marked its 150th anniversary year in London on Wednesday (January 16).

FA President Prince William and former England captain Beckham sent messages to an audience which included five England managers past and present and members of the 1966 World Cup winning side.

Although he could not be there in person, Prince William sent a message to those gathered at the Grand Connaught Rooms.

"As president of Football association, I'd like to welcome you all to the official lunch of the FA's 150 years anniversary celebration. I'm sorry not to be with you today, but I'll be playing my full part in the years events," said William in a video message. "Like you, I'm a football fan, I've loved the game from a very young age, as a player with my friends and as a supporter of club on country. I considered a huge honour to lead the FA. It is an organisation which reaches every community, bringing the simplest enjoyment to people of all ages and all abilities. Over 150 years, football has become part of a very fabric of our society and I hope the year ahead, will allow us to celebrate every aspect of this great game."

Beckham sent his best wishes.

"I'd like to say congratulations to the FA for an amazing 150 years, the anniversary this year. It's going to be a great year of football as always, it's been a huge honour to have been part of it so thank you very much and congratulations," he said.
