Disney shuts down Epic Mickey studio, Bioware teases Mass Effect 3 DLC, and Dead Space 3 producer teases additional story content before release, THIS IS NICK’S GAMING VIEW!

Hello everyone and welcome to Nick’s Gaming View, you are here with your host, Nick McCandless. The past couple weeks have been rough for those in the industry of developing video games as THQ has shut down, SuperBot Entertainment was hit with layoffs, and now Disney has decided to shut down the Austin-based development studio, Junction Point. The lead studio behind the original Epic Mickey and its sequel Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two, suffered immensely from the deep decline in units sold causing a healthy amount of developers to learn they are now jobless. It’s never pleasant hearing such news, so my deepest condolences go out to those impacted and I hope to see everyone back at work in the very near future.

In better news, Casey Hudson, Executive Producer of Mass Effect 3 joined Michael Gamble, Producer of Mass Effect 3, in a tease at potential Mass Effect 3 DLC despite the release being nearly a year old. Releasing two new screenshots which appear to show the Silversun Strip and towering Krogan warrior wielding a hulking mace, fans of the Mass Effect franchise are certainly on the tip of their toes, so hopefully details surface within the very near future.

Wrapping up Nick’s Gaming View, Steve Papoutsis, Executive Producer of Dead Space 3, has also joined the teasing game by doing so with additional story content for the February 5th release by stating “As you can see, we have a lot planned for you in DS3,” “And the team is hard at work on a top secret additional story that will be coming in a few weeks. We're not saying much, yet - but think 'disturbing' to get your imaginations going." Always nice to see studios extend the experience of such theatrical releases, but pushing such content so close to the release of the title collecting even more revenue is a bit disturbing, unless its free of course…YEA RIGHT!
