Sony cuts off yet another first-party studio, PlayStation adopts new advertising agency, and Microsoft acquires yet another media partner for Xbox 360, THIS IS NICK’S GAMING VIEW!

Hello everyone and welcome to Nick’s Gaming View, you are here with your host, Nick McCandless. Less than three months after the release of PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, the studio behind the release, SuperBot Entertainment, has run across yet another bump after being hit with a recent layoff. Sony Computer Entertainment America, the publisher funding the studio has announced they have let the studio go leaving them independent. While there are no plans for further layoffs according to SuperBot’s director of operations, David Yang, concerns are among the studio as being separated from one of the largest video game publishers in the world is very disrupting.

In better news for Sony’s PlayStation division, after six years of poor advertising, excluding Kevin Butler’s appearances, Sony has announced they have dropped their current agency to adopt one of the world’s most famous creative advertising agencies, BBH. While Sony Computer Entertainment America has stated they have ended their terms on a good note, they acknowledged that BBH is the best partner for this business.

Wrapping up Nick’s Gaming View, Microsoft has announced that Redbox Instant by Verizon will be coming to the Xbox 360 in “the very near future”, but for those already participating in the Redbox Instant Beta, an e-mail with a unique code allowing access to the RedBox app on Xbox 360 will be set in the coming days. Through the app, Xbox 360 owners will have the ability to purchase and rent the latest digital movie releases and request physical discs for rental providing yet another solution for owners of Microsoft’s current videogame console.
