The Beatles hold numerous world records for their music, but one of them has just been beaten by Scottish singer Emeli Sande. She's surpassed the record they set with 'Please please me' to become the artist whose debut album has remained in the UK top ten for the most consecutive weeks with 'Our Version of Events'.

SOUNDBITE (English) musician Emeli Sande, saying:

"It feels quite surreal to even have your name mentioned in the same sentence as The Beatles is quite mad but the only way you can really view it is that it's connected. For a record to stay there for so long it means that people have connected with it, so that's how I'm enjoying celebrating this record."

The success follows a bumper 2012 which saw the singer songwriter perform at both the opening and closing ceremonies of the Olympics and pick up a Brit Award for Best British Breakthrough Act.
