Modern Warfare 4’s loss to Call of Duty: Ghosts, highly requested multiplayer Splinter Cell mode makes its return, and EA’s Madden series pulls a first since 1991, THIS IS NICK’S GAMING VIEW!
Hello everyone and welcome to Nick’s Gaming View, you are here with your host, Nick McCandless. With Call of Duty: Ghosts official, fans of the most popular first-person shooter franchise are eagerly waiting for its full reveal come May 21st when it is shown off alongside Microsoft’s new Xbox. Surprising gamers around the world by abandoning the successful Modern Warfare name, Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision Publishing, has credited the console transition from current to next-generation consoles as the “perfect opportunity to start a new chapter for Call of Duty.” Delivering an all-new story, characters, world, and next-generation engine, Infinity Ward is “going all-in to create the next generation of Call of Duty worthy of the world’s greatest fans.” With Activision known for their big talk regarding their money making machine, Call of Duty, come May 21st they’ll have a lot to show in order to support such statements.
When Ubisoft released Splinter Cell: Conviction lacking the fan favorite online multiplayer mode, Spies vs. Mercs, fans of the franchise caused an uproar in frustration. Thankfully Ubisoft acknowledged the hunger for the iconic asymmetrical multiplayer mode and has announced and released a trailer showing off Spies vs. Mercs in the upcoming Splinter Cell: Blacklist. Scheduled to release August 20th for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC, and Wii U, the new Splinter Cell experience will emerge onto store shelves and deliver the online multiplayer gameplay fans of the franchise have been waiting for.
Wrapping up Nick’s Gaming View, Electronic Arts has announced that for the first time since 1991, the Madden NFL franchise will sidestep a Nintendo console. Leaving the Wii U behind, Electronic Arts claims they still share a strong partnership with Nintendo, but didn’t see a Wii U release justified this year. Will we see Madden NFL 25 launch on Sony and Microsoft’s next-generation consoles? No confirmation has been provided, but I wouldn’t be surprised to hear more come E3 2013.
