Weary Blues Dutch Swing college 1990
Probably one of the last TV appearances of Peter Schilperoort with the Dutch Swing College Band. The same year, 1990, Peter passed away.
Reedplayer Bob Kaper had already taken over leadership of the band and today, in 2007, the DSC is still going strong under Bob's leadership.
Peter had been leading the band for more than 40 years since 1945
This arrangement differs quite a bit from the recording I posted of Weary blues recorded in 1978.
The band here had some superb musicians as well. Bert Boeren on trombone, Sytze van Duin on cornet, Fred Murray on piano and of course Huub Jansen on drums made this a band (with Bob's arrangements) a very clever and talented outfit. The ultimate development of early New Orleans music into a world of European concert sophistication without loosing the essence of its origin. This to me sounded as the ultimate DSC.
