Wanted Man Arrested After Allegedly Taunting Police On Facebook

28-year-old Roger Ray Ireland was arrested after he taunted police on Facebook, in a makeshift ‘catch me if you can’ online campaign.
It’s a difficult thing to escape the long arm of the law and taunting police usually doesn’t help matters. A man in Maryland may have landed in handcuffs, but he can get some credit for being ridiculously brazen.
28-year-old Roger Ray Ireland was arrested after he taunted police on Facebook, in a makeshift ‘catch me if you can’ online campaign. It all started after Ireland was featured in Anne Arundel County Police Department's ‘#WantedWednesday’ social media crusade to apprehend alleged criminals.
When his photo popped up on Facebook, netizens started commenting. Apparently Ireland was keeping an eye on the post and didn’t like what people were saying about him.
The accused typed up a few comments of his own. One of which said cops would never catch him.
Given that he posted right on the department’s page, officers saw it quickly. They arrested him a day after his photo appeared on the ‘wanted’ feature. He was ‘served with an outstanding warrant for violation of probation.’
Police Chief Kevin Davis noted “Social Media is a great tool for law enforcement. The amount of tips that we receive daily on social media shows how much ownership citizens are taking in their own communities.”
