New Heads Up Display For Cars Syncs With Phones

A car heads up display, called the Navdy, syncs up with smart phones, allowing drivers a hands-free way to plan their routes and check social media.

There was a time heads up displays were pretty much only used by fighter pilots, but now they’re becoming a tool used by regular motorists worldwide.

A new portable offering, called the Navdy, syncs up with smart phones, allowing drivers a hands-free way to plan their routes and check out what’s trending on Twitter.

It’s capable of both projecting images onto the windshield and reading text aloud.

Users can flip between app options with a wave of their hand or via voice commands.

If somebody just wants to know how fast they’re going or how much gas is left in the tank, Navdy can communicate with the car and find that out, too.

Car makers like Audi, Lexus, and BMW have already added heads up displays to their lineups.

One great advantage of the portable version is that you don’t have to buy a new car to enjoy the technology upgrade.

In an effort to raise 60 thousand dollars from backers, the company is offering pre-order units for 299 dollars.

Once the month-long promotion period ends the price will go up to $499.

Developers are anticipating an early 2015 release.
