Milwaukee van shooting: Suspect commits suicide as police close in on him

The suspect believed to have shot and killed a man and his own nephew after a car accident that took away the life of his two-year-old nephew in Milwaukee committed suicide on Thursday.

The tragic deaths started after two-year-old Damani Terry ran out from the house into the street during a birthday party with his family, according to CNN. Terry was hit and killed by a van driven by Archie Brown Jr, who immediately got out of the car to check on the boy.

Terry's 15-year-old brother Rasheed Chiles was among other family members who came to check on little Terry but was later shot and killed along with Brown by his own uncle, Ricky Ricardo Chiles III.

The family believes that Rasheed was not targeted by his uncle but was killed by an errant bullet, according to CNN.

Chiles fled the scene and was located at a motel in Chicago suburb late Wednesday, CNN reported. As police closed in on him, Chiles committed suicide with his firearm.

Chiles was charged with two counts of first-degree intentional homicide and was on a warrant for probation violation.
