Shoe factory collapse in Cambodia kills at least 6 people

At least six people were killed and six more injured when the roof of a shoe factory in Cambodia collapsed, according to reports.
The shoe factory, located in Kampong Speu province, west of the capital Phnom Penh, is owned by Wing Star Shoes Co Ltd. It supplies Japanese running shoe brand ASICS according to Dave Welsh, country director of the American Center for International Labor Solidarity.
On Thursday morning, at around 7:30 am, some workers were entering the factory, and others were already inside, when an 8 by 16 meter section of the concrete, metal and zinc roof collapsed.
According to a witness, dozens of heavy objects fell on top of the workers, killing several and injuring at least 12 others, the Phnom Penh Post reported.
According to Reuters, five women and one man have been reported dead so far, but the exact number of people who remained trapped in the wreckage is still unknown.
According to reports, there were about a hundred workers inside the factory at the time of the accident.
