BRIDGEPORT, CONNECTICUT — A woman who put her life on the line to save a child from almost certain death is being hailed a hero.

Shanta Jordan threw herself in front of a speeding car to stop the little boy from getting pulverized, just seconds before the vehicle ploughed into a restaurant.

Surveillance footage captured a scene of carnage in Bridgeport, Connecticut last Wednesday as the out-of-control car hurtled toward pedestrians at high speed.

The video shows the quick-thinking Jordan jumping in front of the kid and risking her own life to save his.

Jordan, the boy, and a second child were all injured in the incident and rushed to the hospital, News 12 Connecticut reported.

Police said Jordan’s body took a lot of the impact from the crash and most likely saved the boy’s life.

The boy sustained serious injuries and doctors initially feared that his legs would have to be amputated. Thankfully though, after hours in the operating theater, they managed to save them.

Allen Pearson, 37, the driver of the car, was also injured. He’s been charged with reckless driving, failure to stop and having no insurance on the car, which also wasn’t registered.

Police said there were no skid marks on the street next to the accident, so it’s likely the driver didn’t even hit the brakes.

Jordan didn’t even know the little boy. A special tribute will be held in her honor at Bridgeport City Hall next week.
