Protesters Face Off at Silent Sam Demonstration in Chapel Hill, North Carolina

Far-right supporters faced taunts from counter-protesters on Thursday, August 30, during a demonstration sparked by the removal of a Confederate statue at the University of North Carolina (UNC).The demonstration came 10 days after student protesters forcibly toppled the Silent Sam statue in McCorkle Place, sparking violent scenes and at least one arrest.These videos were captured by eyewitness Kirk Bado. They show Silent Sam supporters being met by angry counter-protesters at the campus. They also show counter-protesters staging a dance party near the demonstration.After the event, the Silent Sam supporters were escorted to their vehicles by police, Bado tweeted.Three people had been arrested by 10pm, according to UNC spokeswoman Carly Miller.
