1 Trilinga Desa (Desham) or Kshetra is a sacred stretch that is located in South India which stands for "the land of the three Lingas".
2 The notable point here is that the three sacred mountains actually mark the boundary of the entire Telugu dominant land, which we presently call Telangana.
3 It is also said that the words Telugu and Telangana are derived from Telinga which is another word to Trilinga Desa.
4 Lord Shiva is invoked in form of Lingas in this expanse is the land that are installed on the three mountains.
5 These three temples are Kaleshwara Mukteswara Swamy Temple in Telangana, Srisailam’s Mallikarjuna Jyotirlinga Temple in Rayalaseema and Draksharamam or Bhimeshwara Mahadev Temple in Coastal Andhra.
6 The famous legend from ‘Andhra Kaumudi’ states that, Andhra Vishnu had built a massive wall connecting the three mountains with Mahendra hills and formed three sacred gates.
7 These three gates were then visited by the three eyed Shiva, who was accompanied by a host of divinities and resided here in the form of three Lingas.
