Pasay to submit reclamation project for gov't approval

Pasay City on Tuesday said it will submit its controversial reclamation project for national government approval after letting the deadline for counterproposals lapse on Monday without awarding the project to proponent SM. In a statement, Pasay said it wrote the Philippine Reclamation Authority (PRA) to say it would submit the project to the agency after selecting its joint venture partner. The PRA last week pointed out that it hadn't approved the project and that the Pasay project may conflict with the PRA's own plan to reclaim land in the area. The project raised eyebrows after Ayala Land raised several issues, including saying that the one-month period for counterproposals was too short. And Ayala Land is no longer alone: Pasay said GT Capital, parent company of Metrobank and Federal Land also raised questions. Pasay said including Ayala Land and GT Capital, four companies bought bid documents but none submitted a counter-proposal. It said its bid committee would meet again tomorrow. -- ANC News Now, November 5, 2013
