2020 Numerals Installed Atop 1 Times Square for Times Square New Year's Eve

A new decade is coming and it's time to change two of the four numerals atop 1 Times Square, home of the New Year's Eve Ball. The "19" is being replaced with the "20". Joseph Calvano, President of Landmark Signs in NYC runs through the process that takes almost a full day to complete. The 2020 has 618 9-watt energy efficient bulbs that will light up at midnight on December 31st in a blizzard of confetti. The numeral "2" has 145 bulbs and the "0" has 164 bulbs. The giant numerals are 7 feet high and weigh between 300-400 pounds each. It takes a team of about 7 workers to install the numerals safely and securely.
