Climate Camp vs RBS & Tar Sands, Edinburgh August 2010

Tar Sands in Alberta, Canada is an oil extraction site the size of England.
The local First Nation communities who live there are dying in great numbers of rare cancers and respiratory disease and are forced to move away or die.
Tar Sands is the second most deforested place on the planet. It produces 4 times as many greenhouse gases as traditional oil extraction.
The Royal Bank of Scotland is 83% owned by the public but it is also 'The oil and gas bank.' It has invested around £8 billion in Tar Sands. Tar Sands alone can tip the planet into runaway climate change, unless it is shut down quickly.
