These are some of the latest images of the Hudson Volcano's activity in the far south of Chile.
The volcano spewed a jet of steam up to a kilometre into the air on Thursday (October 27) raising fears that it is building up to a full scale eruption.
The volcano's alert status has been raised to Level 5 in anticipation of a major eruption in the coming hours or days.
More than 100 residents in the sparsely populated area have been evacuated but more than a dozen others are still refusing to leave.
The volcano last erupted in 1991.
Its recent activity follows a series of eruptions by other volcanoes in Chile.
A volcano in the Puyehue-Cordon Caulle chain erupted in June after lying dormant for decades.
In 2008 the Chaiten volcano erupted spectacularly for the first time in thousands of years, spewing out molten rock and a vast cloud of ash that reached the stratosphere.
Chile's chain of about 2, 000 volcanoes is the second largest after Indonesia. About a quarter of them are potentially active.
