Classic Game Room HD reviews the Sega Saturn Model 2 controller for the Sega Saturn video game console. Yes, there's a model 1 and a model 2 controller. Evidently the model 1 (which is larger) was made specifically for us "big boned", overweight Americans (but we have a great personality!). The model 2 controller was the original Japanese controller for the more compact citizens of Japan. At some point in mid-1996 (I think) they started shipping a slightly refined Sega Saturn with the Model 2 controller which is quite different from the Model 1, both in terms of size and D-pad and button layout. CGR prefers the model 2's D-pad but the Model 1's size. The Model 2 is awesome for SHMUP style shooting games like Darius Gaiden and Radiant Silvergun. It also performs very well for fighters like Virtua Fighter. So here it is, the model 2 controller for the awesome Sega Saturn game system.
