CGRundertow BEN 10: PROTECTOR OF EARTH for Nintendo DS Video Game Review
  • 12 years ago
Classic Game Room presents a CGRundertow review of Ben 10: Protector of Earth from 1st Playable Productions and D3 Publisher for the Nintendo DS. At its core, Ben 10: Protector of Earth is an action-platformer. You're controlling the protagonist Ben Tennyson and his alter-ego alien forms through side-scrolling levels filled with platforms and gaps to cross. The game has a kind of beat 'em up vibe during its combat portions, focused on the repetitive use of simple maneuvers. What makes this game better than the sum of its underwhelming parts is the balance the game so effectively maintains. The brawls never get too boring, since Protector of Earth keeps things moving along at such a nice pace. Before you're exhausted by the combat, you're platforming forward again. Throw in the upgrade system that lets you improve the abilities of your alien forms, which is an awesome touch, and you have a thoroughly impressive kids game. This video review features video gameplay footage of Ben 10: Protector of Earth for the Nintendo DS and audio commentary from Classic Game Room's Derek.
