Like a ticking time bomb these landmines threaten the lives of those living near the Thai-Cambodian border.

After years of conflict over the disputed area, Thai authorities are clearing mines and other explosives.

This man had both of his legs blown off while working on his farm.

"It has a huge effect on us. We have land that we cannot work on, but we still pay land tax. We can't grow crops because of the mines."

At least 500,000 people live in the dangerous mine-affected areas of Thailand.

The country is a signatory of the Ottawa Treaty that aims to eliminate landmines from around the world.
