Petition Urges Obama to Condemn Organ Harvesting in China

On Sunday, three medical doctors in the US launched an online campaign to highlight organ transplant abuse in China. They want the Obama administration to, quote, "investigate and publicly condemn organ harvesting from Falun Gong believers and other prisoners."

The petition appears on the website of the White House, under the Obama Administration's "We the People" initiative. Any petition that gathers 25 thousand signatures within 30 days will get a formal response from the White House.

The petition features a short film produced by NTD. "Killed for Organs: China's Secret State Transplant" is the first in a series that examines the allegations that the Chinese regime is killing prisoners of conscience for their organs.

The claims first surfaced in 2006. Since then, independent investigators have gathered evidence they say proves forced organ harvesting is happening. Victims are largely Falun Gong practitioners, but also include Uighurs, Tibetans and House Christians.

This year, the US State Department, for the first time, included forced organ harvesting allegations in its annual human rights report on China. In October, 106 US Congress members signed a "dear colleague" letter to the Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, urging her to release any information the State Department may have on forced organ harvesting in China.
