Bullet proof whiteboards - one of the latest devices designed to protect students from school shootings.
In Cold Springs, Minnesota, Police Chief Phil Jones demonstrates.

"If you want a safe school -- start building a safe school. Start adding layers of protection."
The boards are made with some of the lightest body armour in the world and were created in response to a shooting in Newtown, Connecticut last December in which 20 children and six adults were killed.

"We set it up making something that would fit into the school environment... because my kids were scared and their teachers were scared."
The boards weigh just a few pounds and are less than an inch thick.
Police say they are an empowering tool to help teachers protect their students.
