PlayStation 4 Pronounced More Powerful Than Xbox One - Nick's Gaming View Episode #185

PlayStation 4 pronounced more powerful than Xbox One, launch prices of PS4 and Xbox One predicted to be cheaper than past, and developers express disgust over the Xbox One on Twitter, THIS IS NICK’S GAMING VIEW!

Hello everyone and welcome to Nick’s Gaming View, you are here with your host, Nick McCandless. Avalanche Studios, developer behind the Just Cause franchise, has commented on the raw power of Sony and Microsoft’s next-generation consoles and pronounced the PlayStation more powerful than the Xbox One at this current point, but has stated its too early to declare the winner in power just yet, “With each new driver release, performance increases dramatically in some areas. The PlayStation 4 environment is definitely more mature currently, so Microsoft has some catching up to do. But I'm not too concerned about that as they traditionally have been very good in that area.” Only time will tell which console will come out on top regarding sheer power, but what will ultimately decide the winner are the software lineups and implementation of features on and offline.

With Sony and Microsoft’s cats out of the bag, concerns have risen regarding the price of the consoles, especially with Microsoft including their new Kinect with each and every Xbox One sold. While neither company has announced official pricing, Rob Lloyd, Chief Financial Officer of GameStop, stated in the post-earnings financial call that he expects a "lower opening price point than they did last cycle." While we won’t know how accurate this is until the prices are officially uncovered, which I predict to release during E3, I must say if the following is true, I, along with millions of other gamers will be able to breathe once again with a sigh of relief.

Wrapping up Nick’s Gaming View, videogame developers around the nation, primarily indie, have went to Twitter with their complaints regarding Microsoft’s Xbox One. With such statements like “Microsoft you *must* prioritize a low friction indie self publishing path. Otherwise you hand Sony games, devs and $.” and “Microsoft just handed the indie dev community to Sony, Nintendo, and Steam on a silver platter.” more concern has risen for the platform outside of the poor unveiling earlier this week.
