The Goonies II is an old-school platformer for the Nintendo Entertainment System. Its story follows the classic 1985 film The Goonies, but in a very strange way. The Goonies are kidnapped by the Fratellis, so Mikey has the rescue them, which makes sense. He also has to save a mermaid named Annie, which makes less sense. The game's gameplay is also a strange concoction, combining quintessential NES platforming with a slight Metroidvania feel and, yes, even some point-and-click adventuring. Fans of 8-bit classics like Maniac Mansion and Shadowgate will love the hybrid approach of The Goonies II, which makes it one of the most original and unique games on the Nintendo Entertainment System.
