Portal gets a magnetic makeover in this attractive new puzzler. Puns aside, Magrunner: Dark Pulse is a first-person puzzle game that will really draw you in. Like portal, the premise is to solve each room and find the exit. And to do that, it’s all about magnets. Magrunner gives you an arm beam that changes the magnetic charge of any chargeable object, from platforms to blocks to elevators. These charges can manipulate those objects and their surrounding environment, using pushing and pulling to move things around and—ideally—to get you to the exit. Magrunner tells a story of a not-so-distant future in which a social network has grown so large, it now controls virtually every element of society. And now the network’s founder Gruckezber—an anagram for Zuckerberg, fittingly—is creating a space program. He needs to test potential participants, and that’s where you come in. You’re thrown into his massive obstacle course building, and that’s when things go horribly wrong. Magrunner: Dark Pulse is a single-player puzzle game. This video review features video gameplay footage of Magrunner: Dark Pulse on the PlayStation Network for the PlayStation 3 and audio commentary from Classic Game Room's Derek.
