Classic Game Room presents a CGR Undertow review of Hero Academy for PC developed and published by Robot Entertainment.

Hero Academy takes the age-old game of chess, brings it to the future courtesy of the age-old game of Words with Friends (or any other push-notification-based two-player game), and then goes off the wagon by featuring six playable teams, each with different mixes of units, buffs, and other goodies. On a board that makes one think of Plants Vs. Zombies, it's just You Vs. some other person online, in turn-based strategic combat with a sense of humor and deep tactical gameplay.
