Alleyway review. Classic Game Room presents a CGR Undertow review of Alleyway for the Game Boy developed by Nintendo and Intelligent Systems and published by Nintendo.
A launch title for the original Game Boy, Alleyway is Nintendo’s take on the classic Breakout/Arkanoid genre. Surprisingly, it’s a more conservation take than you might expect from Nintendo. The game features 24 levels with occasional bonus stages, each of which arranges the bricks in the shape of a Nintendo character. In addition to normal stages, there are also scrolling stages and descending stages where the blocks gradually get lower. The game shows Mario jumping into the paddle, proving once again that there’s almost nothing this ambitious plumber can’t do. Alleyway is a single-player game.
