On Sunday, a stolen ambulance was involved in a major accident. The vehicle overturned in a restaurant parking lot and the crash resulted in one fatality. The incident took place in Greenbelt, Maryland.

During the evening hours, the two-person emergency crew was traveling down the interstate when they saw a car drive off the road, so they stopped to check on the motorist.

That's when they were attacked by the driver of the car.

Approximately 15 minutes after the emergency vehicle was stolen, the assailant lost control of the ambulance and struck multiple cars. A male in one of the affected vehicles suffered from critical injuries. He was taken to the hospital, but passed away shortly after arriving.

Following that first series of crashes, the ambulance barreled down an embankment and overturned, hitting at least 7 more autos in the parking lot of Eat at Joe's Crab Shack.

The male suspect was taken into police custody before being transported to the hospital. His condition is listed as critical.

The ambulance is now totaled and the cost to replace it is estimated to be about $250,000. The Prince George's County Police Department is currently investigating the theft and wreck.
