One of the many 1990s platformers to borrow ideas and design elements from Sonic The Hedgehog, this Genesis exclusive also put an environmentally conscious spin on things. Awesome Possum Kicks Dr. Machino's Butt tells the story of a possum who decides to take pollution and deforestation into his own…paws or whatever. The gameplay and design are very similar to the Sonic games, although Awesome Possum also utilizes the animal-riding concept from Donkey Kong Country. It’s like a potpourri of ideas from better platformers, but SEGA fans looking for a platformer with a green message should be pleased with Awesome Possum Kicks Dr. Machino's Butt.
