Syrian rebels point to the smouldering remains of a fighter jet.

They say they downed the jet on Tuesday in Syria's Idlib province.

Reuters cannot independently verify the footage which was published from social media.

The nation's bloody uprising rages on, with rebels taking on government troops across the nation.

The violence has forced hundreds of thousands to flee to neighbouring countries like Turkey and Jordan.

This Syrian refugee in a camp in Turkey's Boynuyogun says the shelling in and around his home town was constant.

Turkey, already providing aid to 80,000 Syrian refugees, is building more camps like this one.

It has repeatedly called for the creation of a safe zone inside Syria fearing the number could jump to 200,000.

Ankara says it is not getting enough international assistance for the refugees.

So far there has been little international appetite to police a safe zone inside the embattled country.
