Sony makes bold PlayStation 4 statement, Uncharted 3 goes free-to-play, and Gears of War: Judgment’s season pass detailed, THIS IS NICK’S GAMING VIEW!

Hello everyone and welcome to Nick’s Gaming View, you are here with your host, Nick McCandless. With the entire video game industry dialed in on Sony’s recently announced PlayStation 4 console, to say Sony made the right decision in announcing the PlayStation 4 before E3 is a massive understatement. Because of this decision Sony has been receiving most of the press since their February 20th unveiling and the hype is not slowing down with a recent statement made by Michael Denny, PlayStation’s Vice President of Worldwide Studios. Commenting on the launch lineup of the PlayStation 4, Denny stated “With PlayStation 4 what’s exciting is we can see the strength in depth of titles come through – not just in first party but third party, and I really believe PlayStation 4 will have the strongest launch line-up we’ve ever had.” With Killzone: Shadow Fall, inFAMOUS: Second Son, Drive Club, and Watch Dogs all currently slated for launch with more titles to be announced later this year, I have strong faith in Denny’s statement and hope Sony is able to prepare the production of the console early so availability will be somewhat reasonable come this holiday season.

Continuing with incredible news on Sony’s side of things, Naughty Dog has announced that their very own Uncharted 3 is going free-to-play with their multiplayer segment of the game. With over 3.5 million players completing over 37 million matches, Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception is incredibly successful and opening the experience to the public at no initial charge is sure to spike the servers with action. Those who take part in the free-to-play segment of the game, which is now downloadable on the PlayStation Store, will have the ability to hop online and play as much as they want with no restrictions until they reach level 15. Once players reach level 15, gamers will be able to continue earning experience points which will be tracked, but the unlocking of abilities will not be granted without paying to unlock the level cap. While I feel every PS3 owners should already own the game that won numerous Game of the Year awards from a wide range of media outlets, I’m excited to see new players give the game a shot hopefully convincing them to run to their local retailer to pick up the full release packing an incredible singleplayer experience.

Wrapping up Nick’s Gaming View, Gears of War: Judgment is just weeks from its March 16th launch and to bring attention to the release despite Sony’s PlayStation 4 taking over the media, Microsoft has officially announced the Season Pass for the release granting gamers access to six multiplayer maps, two new modes, nine exclusive unlocks, and permanent double XP. Rounding out at 1600 Microsoft points which is equivalent to $20, Microsoft is running a pre-order promotion through their very own store where those who pre-order the release will receive 1600 free Microsoft Points essentially throwing the Season Pass in for free. Plan on picking up the new Gears of War release when it launches next month? Then what are you waiting for, head to the Microsoft Store and pre-order your copy now!
