The Red Star might just be the end all action game that delivers both tight Beat Em Up and thrilling Bullet Hell shooter sequences into one gaming experience. Released under the radar back in 2007, The Red Star has been found on a many underrated games lists for the PlayStation 2. Rightfully deserved of such inclusion, the game packs a wallop with a long campaign, terrific two-player co-op mode, upgradable attributes, an arena mode, and a harder difficulty unlocks after completing the game. It lacks a good bit of polish with its presentation and its difficulty is an old school kind of hard. For gamers playing solo, be prepared for a lack of checkpoints, healing items, and a ramped up difficulty in the second half.
