Ghosthunter is a third-person shooter and black comedy, similar in tone to movies like Ghostbusters and Gremlins. Players assume the role of Lazarus Jones, a rookie cop who finds himself in a sticky situation on his first day at work. He's investigating a strange building when he finds a strange room with strange things. And because all games need a plot device, he turns those things on. Unfortunately, this releases a whole army of ghosts, and that leaves Lazarus to track them down and catch them Peter Venkman style. Ghosthunter arms players with unique weapons like a ray gun and a boomerang trap, but it plays like a typical third-person shooter. Only you're shooting ghosts. Ghosthunter has been praised for its style and graphics, which are very impressive for the PlayStation 2 hardware, and blends humor and horror. Lazarus, for example, is voiced by the great Rob Paulsen. This video review features video gameplay footage of Ghosthunter for the PlayStation 2 and audio commentary from Classic Game Room's Derek.
