Originally released in Japan in 1996 as Motor Toon Grand Prix 2, this cartoony racing game came to the States just a few months later as Motor Toon Grand Prix. Players choose from a roster of eight mascots who aren't really mascots in a racing game featuring five tracks. Obviously, content is not Motor Toon Grand Prix's strong point, but given its age, this is a solid racing game. The game seems to borrow heavily from Roger Rabbit, featuring sexy cartoon girls, places called Toon Island and cars that look very similar to Benny the Cab. This is actually the second Motor Toon Grand Prix title, but the original game was never released in the States. Like many early 3D games, the graphics haven't particularly aged well, but the tracks actually have some impressive, forward-thinking design. Motor Toon Grand Prix features single and multiplayer play. This video review features video gameplay footage of Motor Toon Grand Prix for the PlayStation and audio commentary from Classic Game Room's Derek.
