While based on the 1998 animated film, Quest For Camelot is also based on the Legend of Zelda. This Game Boy Color game borrows pretty much every last element of the Zelda formula, from the heart containers and compasses all the way down to the spin attacks. Players play as Kayley, a young girl and apparent Zelda fan who must rescue her mother from a wicked knight named Ruber. Quest For Camelot is a top-down action-adventure game that looks and plays a lot like classic 2D Zelda games such as A Link to the Past and Link's Awakening. Kayley has a sword she can use to attack enemies, as well as a small shield to protect herself from attacks. The game features an inventory system, again similar to Zelda, and Kayley even holds the items she finds over her head. And although its design isn't nearly as ambitious as Zelda, it's impressive to see a game based on a movie trying something as different as Quest For Camelot does. Quest For Camelot is a single-player game. This video review features video gameplay footage of Quest For Camelot for the Game Boy Color and audio commentary from Classic Game Room's Derek.
