LA’s police chief announced that he’s reviewed the details of actress Daniele Watts’ detainment and thus far has found nothing wrong with the way it was handled.

Los Angeles Police Chief Charlie Beck announced that he’s reviewed the details of actress Daniele Watts’ detainment and thus far has found nothing wrong with the way it was handled.

The highly publicized incident began on September 11th when officers responded to a complaint about a ‘lewd act’.

One of the people suspected of being involved in the reported inappropriate behavior was Watts, who refused to provide her ID to police personnel.

She was cuffed, detained and subsequently released. Later she wrote about the event on Facebook and claimed that she’d done nothing wrong.

The actress has since filed a personnel complaint and insinuated that she was racially profiled.

Chief Beck said that in looking over the evidence he found that the officers responded to the situation exactly how they should have.

He noted that they received a call, responded to it, located a person that fit the description provided, and tried to make an identification. When Watts resisted, they detained her for further investigation, which is within their rights.

Said one of the officers involved, "I was trying to ID them and leave — nobody wanted them arrested for having sex in public.”
