Classic Game Room presents a CGR Undertow review of LEGO Racers for the Nintendo 64 developed by High Voltage Software and published by LEGO Media.
Mario Kart 64 inspired a lot of clones. A lot of bad clones, specifically. But LEGO Racers is one of the good ones. Built on gameplay very similar to Nintendo’s own kart racer, LEGO Racers also adds a few of its own twists. Players can design and build their own racers and vehicles from LEGO blocks, offering up a long list of possible combinations and unique characters. And the weapons are also LEGO inspired, featuring a stacking system that allows you to power them up by collecting the right blocks. Though it falls short of the system’s kart racing giants, LEGO Racers is still worth a spin.
