Classic Game Room presents a CGR Undertow review of WWF WrestleMania: The Arcade Game for the Super NES developed by Midway and published by Sculptured Software. As the title suggests, WWF WrestleMania: The Arcade Game was originally released to arcades. And unlike virtually every other WWF release at the time, it is more of a fighter than a wrestling game. In fact, WWF WrestleMania: The Arcade Game has more in common with Mortal Kombat. It’s a combo-based fighter where players have a simple and decidedly un-wrestling objective—drain your opponent’s health down to zero to win. No need for pins or submission moves. Just fight. The game also features over-the-top moves that showcase the wrestlers’ character and gimmicks. Lex Luger’s arm turns into steel, bats soar from the Undertaker’s strikes—Doink even loses some whoopee cushions from time to time. WWF WrestleMania: The Arcade Game is a single-player and local multiplayer game. This video review features video gameplay footage of WWF WrestleMania: The Arcade Game for the Super NES and audio commentary from Classic Game Room's Derek.
